International Paralympic Committee VISTA 2017 Conference Volunteer Call-Out

Do you have a passion for Paralympic Sport Science and Sport Medicine? For volunteering? Have you ever dreamed of taking part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and representing your hometown? Well look no further!

About VISTA 2017

Toronto, Ontario, Canada will be hosting the eighth VISTA conference from 20-23 September 2017. The theme of the conference is “Opportunities and Challenges in Paralympic Sport Science and Sport Medicine Support”. The VISTA conference, hosted by the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, is designed to provide a platform for sport scientists and researchers to meet with experts in the field of sport for athletes with impairments to discuss, exchange, and gain advanced knowledge in this area.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals who are outgoing and energetic with a willingness to learn, customer-service oriented, enjoy interacting with people and demonstrate commitment to the following qualities: integrity, work ethic, positive attitude, teamwork, independence, confidence, and leadership. Bilingualism is an asset but not a requirement. 

What will you do?

Volunteers will work in all areas of associated with the event. They’ll greet & educate guests on interesting facts, technical assistance, prepare event/tear-down event locations, support accessibility needs and requirements, shuttle athletes and dignitaries to required locations and participate in the opening and closing ceremonies.

Where will you be?

Volunteer opportunities will be available throughout the Chelsea Hotel, Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO), MaRS Discovery District (MaRS), and Toronto Pearson International Airport.

What will be provided?

All volunteers will receive valuable skills training, ability to attend a session, work experience, meals during shifts, a snazzy uniform and other special mementos recognizing their role in VISTA 2017. It’s also a great opportunity to network and create lifelong friends.
