Marnie McBean is a three-time Olympic champion and four-time Olympic medalist; and has been inducted to Canada’s Olympic Hall of Fame (1994) and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame (1997). She is also a recipient of the Governor General’s Meritorious Service Medal (1995) and has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada (2013). With a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario, and given three honourary doctorate degrees, Marnie was presented the Bonham Centre Award from the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies for her contributions to the advancement of education on issues surrounding sexual identification. Most recently, Marnie was named Team Canada’s Chef de Mission of the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
