Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) is pleased to recognize Cameron Low as the OHPSI Athlete of the Month. Cameron recently competed in Germany at the 2019 International Brandenburg Cup for Youth and Juniors and had an outstanding performance in all of his events. Most notably, Cameron earned 4th place in the Men’s Junior K1 1000m race. This result is one of Canada’s best performances in this event in recent years.

In addition to Cameron’s success at the Brandenburg International Cup, his 5th place finish in the Men’s K1 1000m event at the National Team Trials (against Senior National Team athletes) has pre-qualified him for the Junior/U23 World Championships. This event will be held from August 1-4, 2019 in Pitesti, Romania.

Through the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI), Cameron receives integrated support from CSIO in the following areas:

Kevin Iwasa-Madge works with Cameron to provide various services, including body composition testing which informs on the individual support coupled with education sessions as part of Team Ontario.

Several practitioners help build Cameron’s physiological profile to support his coaches’ programming decisions and design.

Performance Analysis
Will George uses leading edge technology to understand Cameron’s paddle stroke, identifying inefficiencies, and correcting technique through biomechanical analysis.

Strength and Conditioning
Greg Lewandowski works with Cameron, primarily in the off-season, building on his strength to improve boat speed.

After initial screening, Kylie Gibson supports Cameron as needed throughout his season.
