CSIO Announces Dominique Bosshart OLY as new Game Plan Advisor, and Kolton Kowalchuk as Performance Pathways Advisor

For Immediate Release

TORONTO (December 17th, 2020) – Canadian Sport Institute Ontario is pleased to announce Dominique Bosshart OLY as the new Game Plan Advisor, and Kolton Kowalchuk as Performance Pathways Advisor.

Dominique is a two-time Olympian and Olympic Bronze medalist in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. Having been a National Team athlete for 15-years, and transitioning from Olympic-level competition, Dominique joins CSIO with first-hand knowledge and experience of the Canadian sport-system, and the COPSI Network. Kolton joins us as the previous High Performance Manager for Athletics Ontario. During his tenure with AO, Kolton developed and implemented a quadrennial high performance strategic plan which included a restructuring of AO’s OHPSI program to enhance development opportunities for 50 Team Ontario athletes and their coaches. Kolton also oversaw the direction and growth of AO’s Coach Development and Para Pathway portfolios.

“Dominique and Kolton will be a powerful addition to our CSIO High Performance staff”, said James Brough, Director, Performance Pathways at CSIO. “Our recruitment process brought forward many capable candidates, but Dominique stood out as a former high-performance athlete, with lived experience of all the good that Game Plan has to offer. We are truly excited to have her join our team! Kolton has first-hand experience working in the OHPSI program with Athletics Ontario, his previous experience at AO is a great addition to our team of advisors.”

Dominique joins CSIO with previous experience in multiple facets of the sport industry including grassroots development, and high-performance work at both the Provincial, and National level. Further, Dominique brings invaluable experience working specifically with the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), and Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC).

“We’re excited to welcome Dominique to the Game Plan family,” Thomas Hall, Game Plan National Manager, says. “Her experience as an athlete and as a professional make her a great fit for the role of an advisor at CSIO, which has one of our largest athlete communities. She understands the demanding schedules that high-performance athletes live by, and so, true to the Game Plan mission, she will be able to help athletes develop their identities outside of sport so that they’ll thrive on and off the field of play and smoothly transition into their next careers.”

Game Plan is a Canada-wide career transition program that provides support to Canadian athletes in life and sport. Game Plan empowers high performance athletes to pursue excellence by helping them to plan for their career and life after competitive sport. Having a transition plan reduces stress, minimizes distractions, and helps athletes focus on their current goals in order to perform to their maximum potential.
